SEADAY enroute to COZUMEL
Last
night’s Karaoke Contest was a huge success! I am getting the formula
for the activity down to a finish. All the talking about it paid off,
and when I got there at 9:45 it was already full! I had seen Tara
(Tracy in Hairspray), the night before and asked her if she would come
to Judge again with a friend from the cast. She said sure, and I told
her that I had much better singers lined up than the first time.Tara showed up at the same time I did with not one, but two, cast members. So we had five Judges last night, (counting John and Kristin, the newlyweds). By 10PM there were so many people in the room, that people had to stand in the doorways and were sitting on the floor.
The
contest went really well and I am proud of my efforts in organizing it.
We had actually 13 singers instead of 12, but still got down to the 6
singers for Round 2 and had to have a Sing Off…AGAIN…for the 1st and 2nd
place. A 16 year old girl with an incredible set of pipes won, but it
was very close. The crowd loved it, I loved it, (since they were
uniformly good singers, and if they weren’t they were at least fun to
watch), and the judges from Hairspray loved it.At the end Earlon insisted Tara and I sing Suddenly Seymour again, so we did. I saw her and the other judges a couple days later and asked them if they would be willing to rehearse a group song…I know, two months on and I am attempting to produce shows already. I can’t help it, I just always want the next show to be better and more entertaining than the last. More so for us than for the guests since we won’t see them again. I would like this to be a big spectacle though.
